Valerie A. Rocco is a practicing attorney with offices in Annapolis, Maryland and Columbia, Maryland, who focuses her practice in the areas of estate and disability planning, probate and estate administration, and elder law. After graduating from New York University, Ms. Rocco attended law school at the University of Baltimore, School Of Law, while working at several law firms and the Public Defender’s Office, where in later years she also worked in the mental health division. She was first licensed to practice law in Maryland in 1977; and thereafter became licensed in the District of Columbia and California, where she is no longer engaged in the practice of law, as she has chosen to focus her practice in her home state of Maryland.

Ms. Rocco began her career as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore City, and thereafter served as corporate and litigation counsel for several Fortune 500 companies in Maryland and California.  In 1991, she established her own law firm, and since 1996, has focused her practice on estate and disability planning, probate administration and elder law.

During her career, she has served on the Board Of Directors of fourteen non-profit organizations, most recently as a Member of the Board of Directors and President of the Anne Arundel Senior Services Provider Group (2006-2011), as a Board Member of the Coalition Of Geriatric Services (2005 - 2008), and as Co-Chair of the Howard County Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Section (2008-2011).   For a number of years Ms. Rocco has volunteered in Howard County’sOffice on Aging’s 60 Plus Will Program, as a presenter at the Howard County Business Resource Center, and as a facilitator in Howard County District Court.  She has been an active speaker on estate planning and elder law issues to various business and professional organizations throughout her career, including, for AARP Legal Services Network, the Maryland and Howard County Bar Associations, COGS, the Anne Arundel Seniors Services Provider Group, and other organizations.  Ms. Rocco has also authored columns on estate and disability planning in Generations newspaper, and OutLook By The Bay magazine.

Since 1996, Ms. Rocco has counseled and represented older and younger adults, and their families in the areas of estate and disability planning, probate and estate administration, and elder law, which comprise the focus of her practice. She has built a reputation for serving clients effectively, efficiently, and with compassion.  Utilizing her years of experience, personal attention, and network of health care and financial professionals, she brings peace of mind to those she serves, whether it is addressing the concerns of an adult child with an aging parent who has health problems, a couple who seeks advice on long-term care issues and getting the “right” legal documents in place to protect themselves or their children, assisting a person who must obtain guardianship of a disabled spouse, or a young couple who wishes to make provisions for their minor children in the event of their untimely deaths.
